Whether you’re drawn to the backcountry or prefer a ski lift, the Alpine Shell is the jacket to get you through the season. And just like the best skiers on the hill, this jacket doesn’t have to show off to let you know it’s awesome—it’s tough as nails with a super-clean, sophisticated aesthetic. The 3-layer plain-weave fabric adjusts its level of heat retention and breathability to the conditions, meaning it retains heat during times of inactivity and allows it to escape when the skiing or riding gets serious. Basically, you’ll be warm whether you’re going up or down the mountain. The Alpine Shell is also seam sealed, waterproof, wind resistant, and breathable.

There is a three-point adjustable hood for those particularly blustery days, as well as pit zips for ventilation when you begin to overheat. Other design details include an exposed weatherproof zipper at the center front, zippered chest pockets, dual-entry hand pockets, an interior goggle pocket that wraps comfortably around the side of your torso, and an interior media pocket with an audio port for headphones. Adjustable cuffs and an interior hem allow you to cinch the fit to your preference. And the removable snow skirt can be worn on a powder day and removed when conditions are mild. When the powder gets deep, special snapped loops along the back can be directly attached to our or snow pants.

The Alpine Shell also comes integrated with a RECCO® rescue reflector which can lead snow-patrol rescuers to a buried avalanche victim. In the event of an avalanche, rescue teams shoot an electronic signal into the snow and victims wearing a RECCO® reflector bounce the signal back to a RECCO® detector, guiding the rescuers to their exact location.
